Experience

  • 2023 - Present
  • 2021 - 2022
    Singapore Green Building Council

    Executive (Certification & Technology)

My main job scope and duties as a member of the Architectural, Civil & Structural, and Landscape team included assisting businesses with their SGBP certification processes, evaluating SGBP certification application submissions, conducting virtual or in-person meetings upon applicant request, and engaging in call and email communications with applicants.

Some other ad-hoc assignments include taking notes for SGBC Webinars, conducting secondary research on green building trends as well as helping out at multiple SGBC events where I performed roles such as site analysis, on-site participant management, logistics support as well as movement control.

    The Cat Cafe

    Cat Cafe Crew

Some of my responsibilities were to brief customers on cafe rules, interact with customers, prepare cat meals, ensure that the environment for customers, cat, and staff are clean, prepare/serve the food/drinks to customers, and any ad hoc duties assigned.

I have learned a lot and also picked up skills for my self-development. By interacting with the customers and standing in front of groups of customers to brief them about the cafe rules, I slowly gained more confidence in public speaking.

    Facilities Intern

My task was to create an on-the-job training booklet for the new technicians who will be joining a particular team in the facilities department. Whenever I followed the technicians, I also got the chance to assist them in their day-to-day operations and even got to do some hands-on work too.

A challenge that I faced previously, was communication. At the start of the internship, I was scared to ask questions and talk to people. But how I overcame it was by writing down all of my questions in a notebook and asked when I am more prepared mentally.

An important learning point from this was that I should never be afraid to ask questions when I am unsure. This would ensure that there are lesser misunderstandings and I would also be able to improve myself simultaneously.
