Graduate Research Assistant

Operating under an internal grant, and supervised by Dr. Michael J. Smith, a group of PhD candidates conducted program reviews, hazard audits, work observations, and worker interviews, to develop a priority report for UW-Madison to improve the safety and health of working conditions on campus.

Research Assistant

Mentored by Drs. Peter Hoonakker and Pascale Carayon, worked on grant from CQPI attempting to define the use of TQM in construction safety management. We performed comprehensive literature reviews, interview studies, and several survey studies. We presented the results of our work at several regional and national/international conferences and published in the Total Quality Management journal (TQM)

Industrial Hygiene Engineer

Acting as a compliance officer (CSHO), conducted worksite inspections based on the MN-OSHA priorities, and completed industrial hygiene studies to assess worker exposure. Conducted training and public speaking, as requested by the public. Attended professional development classes and seminars (including OTI and University of Minnesota MPH courses). Alot of research on Federal and State regulations, and toxicology and industrial hygiene studies.

Product Manager

Developed 5-year strategic plan for a line of industrial-sized air filtration product line. Performed extensive market research to better price and create marketing plans to better compete in the market. Trained national network of salesmen on the technology and target groups.
Acted as expert on air filtration technology and system design/installation.

Safety Consultant/Engineer

Primarily focusing on ergonomically-focused studies and public entities (such as town municipalities), conducted comprehensive safety and health audits, and generated reports recommending solutions to reduce safety and health risks.

OSHA Compliance Officer

Focused on assessment and redesign of industrial processes to: replacement of hazardous chemicals, reuse materials (vs. dispose), and recycle materials (vs. dispose).
