Engineering Consultant/ Project Engineer

The Solar Project provides high quality renewable energy systems to small and large businesses and industry across Australia. The team has been responsible for some of the largest commissioned commercial solar power stations nationally.

With a highly successful project office delivering cost efficient solar project solutions in South Australia, Western Australia, regional Victoria and New South Wales, The Solar Project has recently been awarded the Wine Industry Suppliers Association ‘Supplier of the Year’ for 2013 (Environment and Sustainability). R&D Engineer

Developed by the Australian Government’s Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), K-TIG is an Australian, unlisted public company which holds numerous patents both in Australia and internationally for its Keyhole TIG welding system and associated technologies.

As the mechanical engineer in the R&D department, my duties include but limited to:

• Manage and execute turnkey projects valued in excess of $3 million for:
• Welding jigs and workbench for manual and robotic applications
• 5G (orbital) keyhole welding
• Keyhole welding sensing and control
• Researched and Development for:
• Effect of various welding parameters on materials such as:
• Titanium
• Inconel
• Stainless Steel
• Carbon Steel
• 5G keyhole welding process
• Effects of pressure during keyhole welding
• Autonomous purging and welding control system
• Support the writing of technical papers for publications in scientific journals
• Design and build suitable structures for in house testing of welding coupons for manual welding and robotic welding
• Produce engineering drawings for fabrications of prototypes

Mechanical Engineer

• Project management and engineering of CAPEX projects such as:
o Design duct system that recycle hot air from galvanising bath to pre-galvanising drying tank
o Pump system for acid tank transfer
o Stainless steel passivation plant
o Cable support ladders storage rack
• Provide mechanical design and analysis for management and external client’s bespoke product to the following Australian Standards:
o AS1170 series
o AS4600
o AS4100
o AS4673
• Product design and development of building services products.
• Process flow analysis for manufacturing shop floor and galvanising plant.
• Supervision of contractors.
• Ensure compliance of products and manufacturing processes to relevant Australian Standards and ISO14001.

National Technical Coordinator

• Managing and participating in design, documentation, programming, assembly and adjustment of Grid-tied, Stand-alone and battery backup solar power system.
• Managing and participating in R&D of new products and preparing of technical reports and review.
• Conduct test and quality checks of new inverter for National Product Manager.
• Writing of technical bulletins and product bulletins
• Provide national technical support for electrical and mechanical enquiries.
• Provide electrical references, calculations and diagrams where necessary
• Analyzing and interpreting Australian electrical standards and power supply reports.
• Conduct job inspection/ audits for jobs done by contractors.
• Conduct briefing to contractors on quality of work and update on new Australian standards requirements.
• Plan and provide training to sales personnel on basic technical knowledge.
