Geotechnical Staff Engineer

– Participate in the planning and design of mining infrastructure such as Tailings Storage Facilities, Heap Leach Facilities, Waste Rock Storage Facilities, and Open-Pit Mines;
– Interpret and analyze geotechnical data to establish type, classification, and engineering characteristics of materials. Assist senior engineers with geotechnical engineering analyses including, but not limited to slope stability, liquefaction, seepage, earthquake-induced deformation, and settlement analyses;
– Perform domestic and international field assignments, such as dam safety inspections, geotechnical investigations, and construction monitoring; and
– Assist with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, schedules, and cost estimates.

-Conducted research on the understanding of mechanisms of failure and numerical modeling of coal bursts; and
-Provided support with the rock mechanics laboratory testing.

Mine Planning Engineer

-Performed short, middle, and long-term mine planning for three aggregate production centers of the company;
-Verified that the operational process was executed according to the approved mining designs, guaranteeing the fulfillment of the mining and environmental legal requirements; and
-Coordinated all the activities to ensure reserve availability for the production department.

Mining Engineer (Part-time Contractor)

-Updated and enhanced the operation’s drawings of five different kaolin mines in AutoCAD; and
-Recalculated mineral reserves and life of mine (LOM).

Mining Engineer Intern

-Developed the environmental management plan for a kaolin mine for ceramic production; and
-Prepared technical reports presented to Colombian Environmental and Mining Authorities.

Mining Engineer Intern

-Conducted a trade-off study to select the most cost-effective and practical backfill method for a new underground project in Tanzania;
-Performed the reticulation design using mine planning software (Data Mine); and
-Conducted a risk analysis on the selected backfill method.
