Co-Founder

Context: As a co-founder of Chloro-Co., a vegan fashion accessory brand based in Singapore, I gained valuable experience in starting a business from the ground up. This included conducting market research, negotiating with suppliers, coordinating with shipping companies, and building a website. Despite our enthusiasm for the brand and desire to make durable vegan leather accessible to all, we were unable to gain sufficient traction and relied heavily on influencer marketing for sales, which did not yield a good return on investment.

Lesson learned: Importance of validating demand for the product early on, perhaps through crowdfunding or first building a community and generating hype, which is especially crucial for a bootstrapped e-commerce company operating in a niche market. While the venture did not ultimately succeed, I gained valuable insights and skills that will benefit me in future endeavors as I continue to take on challenges in the business world.
