    Associate Research Fellow

Structural Engineering Research Specialist at Mid-Rise Residential Cold-Formed steel Building project.

Analysis and design of cold-formed steel mid-rise buildings under ARC Steel research HUB. Staff in the Sustainable Building Research Center @ UOW. Industry-focused and application-oriented researcher.
I performed following specific structural engineering design tasks –

    1. Design of hot-rolled and cold-formed steel structures
    2. Design and development of a 200 KN lateral load testing facility
    3. 3D design and printing of innovative connections to speed up cold-formed steel construction
    4. Design and development of strap braced shear panels following Australian standards – AS4600, AS 1170.2 and AS 1170.4
    5. Direct strength method based CFS section design

This job required me to extensively use various finite element based structural analysis software, such as SpaceGass, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, Strand7, ABAQUS, ColdSteel, Thinwall, CUFSM, EnduroCAD, AutoDesk Revit, Inventor.

I am intensively involved in the following projects

Sub Project 1: Initial stiffness and fracture of bolted connections using ABAQUS
Sub Project 2: Development of high strength Strap braced shear panels
Sub Project 3: Structural comparison of CFS intensive mid-rise residential buildings against reinforced concrete alternative
Sub Project 4: Bearing strength of untightened bolted connections under repeated loading
Sub Project 5: Full-scale 3D analysis of CFS intensive mid-rise residential building using equivalent shell elements in ETABS
    Sub Project 6: Innovative Connections
Sub Project 7: Design of clip angles
Sub Project 8: Design of nailed connections
Sub Project 9: Development of high strength artificial hail-stones
Sub Project 10: 3D printed innovative connections
